BMW India has launched the X5 M and X6 M performance SUVs in India for Rs 1.55 crore and Rs1.60 crore, respectively. The new, high-powered SUVs will be the fifth and sixth vehicles in the M range of BMW which consists of more powerful versions of their regular cars.

The new M powered SUVs join the M3, M4, M5 and the recently launched 2015 M6 Gran Coupe range in India. The SUVs will be sold in India as completely built units (CBUs).

The powerful version of the X5 SUV and X6 crossover is powered by a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine that develops 567bhp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm and 750 Nm of torque between 2,200-5,000 rpm mated to standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. Both the SUVs can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.2 seconds before reaching top speed of electronically limited 250kmph.

Both the M models are differentiated from their regular models on the exterior with large air intakes at front, side gills with a model badge, M-specific exterior mirrors in twin-stalk style and M-spec quad tailpipe exhaust system.

The BMW X6 M additionally boasts of a rear spoiler. The performance SUV also comes with M-spec 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.

New BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M customers also have options exclusive to the M models such as Merino full-leather trim and M multifunctional seats. The vehicles come with a choice of two new and exclusive M paint finishes - Long Beach Blue metallic and Donington Grey metallic.

BMW India launched the first M Studio in Mumbai on 1 October to retail the M division cars. Both the new SUVs will be sold via M Studio. The German manufacturer has plans to open more M studios in Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Pune and Hyderabad by the end of 2016.
