BlackBerry Porsche Design P’9882 Limited Edition Premium Smartphone Unveiled

After weeks of rumours, Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry finally pulled the wraps on the much-anticipated luxury collector's smartphone Porsche Design P'9882.

"The new all-touch P'9982 smartphone combines a unique design from an iconic brand with the power of BlackBerry 10. Every aspect of this smartphone has been purposely designed and built for a powerful premium experience," said Alistair Hamilton, Senior Vice President of Design at BlackBerry.

Commenting on the joint-venture, Porsche Design Group CEO Juergen Gessler said, "Once again the collaboration with BlackBerry has led to a device that implements our Iconic Style credo without compromises. With the P'9982 we extend our range of modern luxury smartphones and establish ourselves as a market leader in this segment." 

The new limited edition BlackBerry Porsche Design P'9882 features a stainless steel frame with hand-wrapped genuine Italian leather cover and sports a 4.2-inch HD (1280x768p) screen, with pixel density of 356 ppi (pixels per inch).

P'9882 runs on the custom version of BlackBerry v10.2 OS and comes pre-loaded with blackberry Priority Hub (all updates and messages under one roof), improved Keypad, BBM Video with Screen Share, Camera Time Shift mode and story maker applications to enrich photography, BBM Now append more.

Under-the-hood, it packs 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB inbuilt memory (further expandable via microSD card), 8.0-meagpixel main camera, 2.0-megapixel front-facing camera, 1800 mAh battery, which can run up to 9 hours of talk time, while on standby mode it can give backup close to 10 days.

The company claims that the new BlackBerry would launch in select countries on 21 November and a limited edition (only 500) Crocodile model will be sold exclusively at Porsche Design shop, Harrods, London. However, the smartphone maker is still tight lipped regarding the price of the device.
