Supporters of Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) who were celebrating the party's win in the BIhar election on Sunday were reportedly assaulted by unidentified men, and one of them succumbed to injuries.

The incident took place in Navada village near Arrah, with RJD supporters bursting firecrackers to celebrate the victory of the Grand Alliance comprising RJD, Nitish Kumar's JD (U) and the Congress party.

Three men were brutally beaten by an unknown group for celebrating the victory with firecrackers in Navada, and one of them has died, ANI news agency reported.

The killing led to a tense situation in the region, with protesters attacking the houses of the youths accused of assaulting the RJD supporters.

The Grand Alliance swept to power and crushed the Bharatiya Janata Party despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aggressive campaigning in Bihar.

The Mahagatbandhan, as the JD(U)-RJD-Congress alliance is called, won a massive 178 seats of 243, while the BJP was reduced to 58.
