This year's Eid will be the biggest festival for the Indian film industry, as several films of A-list stars are releasing during the weekend.

Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" is slated to release on 9 August. Two days ahead of the release (7 August), Telugu actor Pawan Kalayan's "Atharintiki Daredi" will hit theatres. Tamil actor Vijay's "Thalaivaa" is expected to join the 9 August race.

In regional markets, these actors are the undisputed kings at the box office. But the release of their films during the same period might affect their collections in international markets.

Bollywood production house UTV Motion Pictures is getting ready for a grand release of "Chennai Express" in more than 3,500 screens worldwide, which might play spoilsport for "Thalaivaa" and "Atharintiki Daredi" in global markets.

Big clash in Kerala

Shah Rukh has a huge fan following in south India. The actor's films open well in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala markets as well.

Vijay too has a strong foothold in south Indian markets. According to reports, 15 percent of his film's revenue comes from markets outside Tamil Nadu. His films are received well in Kerala - mainly in Malabar area. Interestingly, 60 screens in Kerala have been booked for SRK's film to release. The Kerala distributors of "Thalaivaa" are already finding it difficult to get screens for the film's release.

Moreover, four big Malayalam films are also releasing during Eid, as it is one of the biggest festivals in God's own country. Mammootty's "Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty", Prithviraj's "Memories", Dulquer Salmaan's  "Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi" and Kunchacko Boban's "Pulipuliyum Attinkuttiyum" will hit theatres for Eid.

Kerala has about 300 screens. With the release of four big Malayalam films and two other-language films, it will be a difficult task for the distributors to get the required number of screens for their flicks.

The makers of "Chennai Express" and "Atharintiki Daredi" have already locked their release dates. "Thalaivaa", which is expected to be censored on 24 July, is reportedly targeting a 9 August release. However, an official confirmation on the same is yet to be announced. Apparently, we could expect a mega clash between these films.
