Bhopal, Sep 21 (ANI): A No Vehicle Sunday dawned in Bhopal to make residents aware of the importance of an eco friendly, healthy, unpolluted environment. The drive is called “Raahgiri Concept” which is India’s first sustained car-free citizen initiative where participants are pedestrians (raahgir) who play a major role. In fact this drive was started in Gurgaon on November 17, 2013 and the participants had made this movement nationally and internationally acclaimed through their active participation. The salient features of this concept include road safety and promoting sustainable transport, Environment, Physical activities-health and Social inclusiveness. With these aims in mind, pedestrians reclaim the streets for themselves under this drive. City Engineer in Bhopal Municipal Corporation, Devendra Tiwari, said both the Municipal Corportion and Bhopal Link Limited are working together for the last 4-5 years to promote more and more usage of non motor public transport.
