Bentley Motors is set to launch its first SUV, the Bentayga, in various markets, with the British manufacturer hinting at a possible higher output version. Speaking at the Beijing Motor Show, Bentley chief executive Wolfgang Durheimer said, "At the moment they want Bentayga – it's due to launch here in July. But if you're asking whether there would be Speed versions of the Bentayga eventually, then yes, you might expect that," Auto Express reported.

For the uninitiated, Bentley sells the Continental GT and Mulsanne in Speed versions, which are more potent than the regular models. In that case, the upcoming Bentayga Speed will have a power output substantially higher than 600bhp. Going by the trend of Speed versions of Continental GT and Mulsanne that boast of additional 51 and 25bhp, respectively, the Bentayga Speed is expected to deliver over 650bhp.

The regular Bentayga launched in India last week is priced at Rs. 3.85 crore and it is powered by twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine that develops 600bhp at 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and a mammoth 900Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,500rpm mated to ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The SUV sprints 0-100kmph in 4.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 301kmph.

With the arrival of Bentayga Speed, the 4.1 seconds time to reach 100kmph will further go down. The Bentayga is already the fastest, and the most powerful, luxurious and exclusive SUV in the world. The company has been receiving good response for the SUV and in India alone, it received over 100 bookings.
