Bengaluru FC created another history for themselves after reaching the last eight of the AFC Cup 2016 for the first time, since their inception as a football club. They achieved the feat after defeating Kitchee SC with a 3-2 scoreline in their round-of-16 game of the competition in Hong Kong on Wednesday.

With Mohun Bagan being eliminated from the competition earlier, BFC became the only Indian side to stay alive in the Asian football competition this season.

Indian football talisman Sunil Chhetri scored in the 31st minute and the 33rd minute of the match respectively, to make the score 2-2 at the half time. Daniel Lalhimpuia struck the crucial and the all-important goal for the away side in the 51st minute.

For the home team, Rufino del Burgo and Jordi Paramo scored the two goals.

Twitter has kept buzzing ever since the news broke and congratulatory messages poured in for Bengaluru FC, from all quarters.
