The Bangladesh Premier League was originally scheduled to take shape last Friday, but depression over the Bay of Bengal brought unfortunate rains to spoil the party for BPL fans. As a result, the BPL 2016 has been rescheduled, and will begin from Tuesday, with Comilla Victorians, who are the defending champions, taking on Chittagong Vikings at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

This match will be followed by another huge clash with one of the strongest teams in the competition Dhaka Dynamites keen to start on a winning note against the Barisal Bulls. With some star players set to be in action on the first day of the revised competition, fans can expect to be entertained in both the contests. Here is a look at both the BPL matches scheduled for today.

The Victorians were splendid last season, winning the title playing some astounding cricket, and they are looking for a repeat, which is not going to be easy with all other teams having strengthened their teams with the hope of clinching the title.

The Victorians have some big names in their squad including Imad Wasim and Sohail Tanvir, but they will also need the services of Bangladesh players like Liton Das and Imrul Kayes to get off to a winning start in the BPL.

But they are going to face a strong team, studded with Vikings stars, which includes the likes of Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith and Tamim Iqbal among others. They have all the required ammunition to help them lift the title, and have the bases covered in all departments to shine throughout the BPL 2016. After their disappointing sixth position finish, the Vikings will be determined to go all the way in the fourth edition of the BPL.

Barisal Bulls vs Dhaka Dynamites

On paper, Barisal Bulls may not threaten much, but the shorter format of the game is such where no teams can be taken lightly. The Bulls will be led by Mushfiqur Rahim, who needs to be on top of his game with the bat this BPL, and the skipper will want to see his opening bowler Al-Amin Hossian to deliver in the opening match against the formidable Dynamites.

The Dynamites have been the best team in the past few editions of the BPL, and have a host of superstars in their squad, which has been strengthened with the signing of Bangladesh's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan.

They probably have the best batting line-up, which includes former Sri Lankan stars Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara, and big T20 hitters like Evin Lewis and Andre Russell. If their batsmen get going in the second match of the day, Bulls are going to be in all sorts of problems and the fans may witness a flurry of fours and sixes.
