As it appears from the promos, "Bajirao Mastani" is one of the worked-hard upon films of the year. Its lead actors went through an intense phase while filming for it.

It was "emotionally draining" for Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh claims to have given it his all.

"I had to focus and try and create something distinct. It is not easy to do a period character and transport mentally to that time. No other film demanded this much of me. It is not a complaint... I am proud and happy to play this role which you get in a decade. I had got to do much for my craft," PTI quoted the actor as saying.

Meanwhile, DP spoke at length about the effort she had put in "Raam-leela", which feels less when compared to "Bajirao Mastani". The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial needed her to go for extensive dance lessons, dialogue sessions and fight classes.

"It was very inspiring (role). I wish she was alive today, I wish I could meet her, see her, interact with her. I will be meeting her family soon. It was not about her beauty, strength, being a lover or nurturer and warrior. I think all women have these qualities in them," she further elaborated.

The actress further revealed some portions of the film are to be shot, after which it will be a wrap for the film. Priyanka Chopra, who plays the role of Kashibai in the film, was in India for a couple of days to shoot a song sequence with Ranveer and Deepika.
