Apart from romantic and comedy films, Bollywood has now succeeded in churning out some action thriller flicks as well. Varun Dhawan's "Badlapur" opened in theatres on 20 February and turned out to be a pleasant surprise for the audience with its action packed storyline and the lead actor's brilliant performance.

Likewise, Bollywood has given several such revenge stories to people like "Zanjeer", "Karz", "Baazigar", "Ek Hasina Thi" and many more.

Here are few more recent blockbusters, which are based on revenge.

"Badlapur"

"Badlapur" has received rave reviews from critics and is said to be a must watch. Varun too has been lauded for his intense performance. In the film, Raghu's (Varun) family gets killed in a bank heist. Disgruntled and aggrieved, he begins his chase to pin down the murderers.

"Haider"

"Haider", which is the revenge drama, follows the pain-lashed relationship between a bereaved mother Ghazala (Tabu) and conflicted son Haider (Shahid Kapoor). Vishal Bhardwaj's brilliant adaptation of William Shakespeare's play "Hamlet" does justice to the inner and outer conflicts of the characters.

This film proved to be lucky for Shahid's career, and he won several awards for his thrilling performance.

"Ghajini"

Aamir Khan's blockbuster "Ghajini" is about a rich businessman whose girlfriend (Asin) gets killed by a don in front of him. Though he suffers from anterograde amnesia, he manages to take his revenge.

"Agneepath"

Remake of Amitabh Bachchan's "Agneepath," Hrithik Roshan stunned the audience with his performance. The story is of a young kid whose father, a teacher, gets killed by a local don. He forces the little boy and his family to flee from that place. Years later, the boy grows up to be a strong man (Hrithik Roshan) who comes back to his homeland to take revenge.

"Kahaani"

Women centric film "Kahaani" portrayed the power of a woman's rage and revenge. It revolves around a female (Vidya Balan) whose husband dies in a poison-gas attack and thus, she fights to get her revenge. The movie received several awards and Vidya thrilled the audience with her outstanding performance.

"Gangs of Wasseypur 2"

Anurag Kashyap's "Gangs of Wasseypur" released in two parts. The second part is centered on the coal mafia of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, and the underlying power struggles, politics and vengeance between three families.
