ABC's dating reality show The Bachelor will return to television on January 2 with Nick Viall as the bachelor seeking a happy ending, and the promo for the season promises a lot of tears, from Viall as well as the contestants.

This is Viall's fourth time on the dating reality show, having first appeared in Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette and then on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season as well. He was last seen in Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise, where he quickly became a fan favourite, leading ABC to cast him as the next Bachelor.

"I think part of his charm that's really come out on Bachelor in Paradise is he's so great with the girls, and not as a romantic interest to all of them, but almost as a big brother or good male friend," ABC exec Robert Mills admitted in an interview on SirusXM's LA Daily. "And you see he's not really cut out for Bachelorette, where sometimes it's like if you're not a bro, you're not necessarily gonna fit in."

So what happens in Season 21 of The Bachelor? Reality Steve, as usual, has all the information on goes down in the premiere, and according to the spoiler guru the first episode will feature Viall's introduction, the arrival of the contestants as well as the cocktail ceremony.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

One of the contestants to watch out for is Vanessa Grimaldi, who is rumoured to be The One. Viewers will be shown a video of her working with special ed students and saying she was born to be a teacher and a mom.

Another interesting video is that of a contestant named Elizabeth, who admits that she has met Viall before. According to Reality Steve, the duo met at Tanner and Jade's wedding and they seemed to have spent the night together.

Catch all the drama when Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor premieres on Monday, January 2 on ABC.
