Maruthi Darari's "Babu Bangaram" has received superb response at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows on Thursday and become the biggest opener for Venkatesh. It has beaten the collection record of "Race Gurram" (RC).

"Babu Bangaram" is one of the most-hyped and highly-awaited big-ticket Telugu movies of 2016. It has been creating ripples in the media for several good reasons quite for long time. The huge hype surrounding the film had created a lot of demand for its overseas theatrical rights and several leading distribution houses were in the race to bag its rights. Blue Sky Cinemas acquired the rights for a whopping price.

Director Maruthi's recent releases have turned out to be big money spinners at the U.S. box office. In a bid to cash in on his brand value, Blue Sky Cinemas made grand arrangements for the release of "Babu Bangaram" and booked over 120 cinema halls across North America. The distribution house also made arrangements for its grand premiere in around 100 screens, which is a really a big number for Venky's film.

The makers of "Babu Bangaram" successful delivered the content of the film in all centres across the country in time. The movie, which had decent advance booking, witnessed superb occupancy in the premiere shows in the country on Thursday. The film ran to packed houses in some locations.

"Babu Bangaram" has collected approximately $177,045 from 97 screens at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows on Thursday. Tollywood critic Idlebrain Jeevi ‏tweeted: "#BabuBangaram collects $177,045 through premiers in USA from 97 locations. Biggest opening among Venky's solo films! "

This is the highest collection for a movie featuring Victory Venkatesh and "Babu Bangaram" has become the biggest opener for him. The movie has shattered the record of "Race Gurram," which collected $102,782 at the U.S. premieres. Its collection is on par with that of Allu Arjun's "Sarainodu," which collected $190,679 from 95 locations at paid preview shows in the U.S.
