The Hindi rights of the movie are acquired by Karan Johar for a large sum. Similarly, the Karnataka and Ceded (Rayalaseema) region's distribution rights were sold to a prominent distributor for ₹23 crore. The Kerala distribution rights have been acquired by Global United Media, which is again said to be sold for a huge amount.

In terms of pre- release business, it's Rajinikanth's "Robo" that stands at top with ₹ 140 crore and whether "Baahubali" will reach this mark or not is something the industry is waiting to see.
