Prabhas' Baahubali 2 (Bahubali 2) and Aamir Khan's Dangal have done historic collections at the box office and now they are heading to cross the marks of Rs. 1,600 crore and Rs. 1,500 crore, respectively.

The SS Rajamouli-directed historical fiction movie, which was released in theatres on April 28, minted Rs. 1,503 crore gross at the worldwide box office in three weeks. Despite clashing with new releases, Baahubali 2 has continued to do well in its fourth week and collected Rs. 35 crore gross at the global box office on Friday and Saturday.

Baahubali 2 has collected a total of Rs. 1,538 crore gross at the worldwide box office in 23 days. The movie needs to collect Rs. 62 crore to surpass the mark of Rs. 1,600 crore in the global market. Considering its current pace of collection, the film will not be able to achieve this historic feat in its fourth weekend, but it will definitely cross the mark in 28 days.

On other hand, the Aamir Khan-starrer, which was initially released in theatres on December 23, 2016, had made record breaking collection at the worldwide box office. Dangal became the second all time highest grossing Indian film after PK. Five months later, the movie was released in a record number of screens in China and it has made superb collection at the Chinese box office in 16 days.

In its third week, Dangal is leading the race at the box office, beating all Chinese and non-Chinese movies. Trade analyst Idlebrain Jeevi‏ posted the chart of top 10 movies and wrote: "#Dangal crosses $100 million in China by the end of third weekend & races ahead of Guardians of Galaxy 2 that's released on the same day "

However, Dangal needs to collect Rs. 82 crore ($12.73 million) to cross Rs. 1,500 crore mark and the movie will fetch these numbers at the Chinese box office on its third Sunday. Ramesh Bala‏, an observer from the southern film industry, tweeted: "The race is truly on for The No.1 Indian Blockbuster at the WW BO As of May 20th, 2017 #Baahubali2 - ₹ 1,538 Crs #Dangal - ₹ 1,418 Crs."
