The second day of India's biggest auto carnival -- Auto Expo 2016 -- witnessed the unveiling of some of the much-awaited models like Mahindra XUV Aero coupe SUV, Fiat's new Linea 125S, Punto Pure, Avventura Urban Cross, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Volkswagen Polo GTI and Renault Duster facelift. The day, 4 February, started with the unveiling of commercial vehicles from Scania, followed by JBM. Triumph's new Bonneville range, Toyota's new Prius , SsangYong's Tivoli, Yamaha MT-09 and Mahindra electric vehicles were the other biggest unveiling of the second day.

The Auto Expo 2016, which kick-started on 3 February, will open its doors to the general public from Friday, 5 February. The entry will be restricted to ticket holders.

Auto Expo 2016 Day 2: Major highlights

3.52 pm: Nissan will launch X-Trail SUV in India by July.

3.50 pm: Nissan India ropes in John Abraham as its brand ambassador.

3.20 pm: Nissan showcases X-Trail premium SUV.

3.15 pm: Renault unveils the Duster facelift -- Easy R Duster.

3.10 pm: Toyota unveils new Prius.

2.35 pm: Atul Auto unveils concept Auto Rickshaw.

2.32 pm: Triumph Street Twin has been priced at Rs. 6.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

2.32 pm: Triumph India showcases new Bonneville range.

2.27 pm: Renault will unveil the Duster facelift -- the new avatar of its popular Duster SUV -- at the auto show shortly.

1.37 pm: Volkswagen Polo GTI will be launched in India later this year.

1.30 pm: Volkswagen unveils the much-awaited Polo GTI at the Auto Expo.

12.58 pm: Both Ignis and Baleno will be sold through Nexa.

12.57 pm: Maruti will launch Ignis and Baleno RS in India during the festive season this year.

12.56 pm: Joining the pavilion of Maruti on the second day of auto carnival is the Baleno RS concept with Booseterjet engine under the hood.

12.56 pm: Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest car maker, showcases one of its most-awaited Ignis at the Auto Expo 2016.

12.10 pm: After the inaugural ceremony, Maruti Suzuki is expected to unveil the highly anticipated Ignis and Baleno RS.

11.40 am: Auto Expo 2016 inaugural ceremony begins.

11.30 am: John Abraham, the brand ambassador of Yamaha, launches the MT-09 in India at the Auto Expo 2016.

11.28 am: After three offerings of Fiat gracing the floor of the 13th edition of the biennial Auto show, Yamaha MT-09 is set to make an appearance. 

10.32 am: Joining Fiat's pavilion are the new Linea 125S and Urban Cross.

10.20 am: Fiat showcases Punto Pure at the Auto Expo.

10.00 am: Mahindra showcases it's new Mahindra XUV Aero, SsangYong's Tivoli along with the electric vehicles -- e2O Sport, E-Verito and Supro Electric.

9.43 am: Mahindra and Mahindra will unveil its XUV Aero Concept shortly at the ongoing auto show.

Mahindra XUV Aero Concept is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine, which can belt out 197bhp of power.

9.34 am: JBM Auto pulls the wraps off its electric bus Eco Life at the Auto Expo.

9.20 am: Scania kick-starts day 2 of the Auto Expo 2016 with the unveiling of Scania City Wide Bus and Premium Truck G310.

The second day (4 February) of the auto carnival will open its gates for the media with the press conference of Scania, followed by Mahindra, Fiat , Maruti Suzuki and more. The day is expected to see some major launches like Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS, Renault Duster facelift, Mahindra XUV Aero concept and Toyota Camry Hybrid. Auto Expo 2016 Day 1: Highlights

The opening day (3 February 2016) of India's biggest auto carnival Auto Expo 2016 witnessed the unveiling of highly anticipated models like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Tucson SUV, Honda Navi hybrid two wheeler, Jaguar XE, Tata Kite 5 compact sedan, Tata Hexon , Renault Kwid 1.0litre, Honda BR-V, Toyota Innova Crysta and Audi R8 V10. The day also marked the entry of the UM Motorcycles and Jeep into the Indian market.

Highlights of the event (day 1)

6.11 pm: Audi launches its popular sports car Audi R8 V10 in India at the Auto Expo 2016. The Audi R8 V10 has been priced at Rs. 2.47 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

5.59 pm: BMW will shortly unveil its 7 series and X1 at the auto show.

5.32 pm: Datsun, Nissan's low-cost brand, unveils Go Cross.

5.21 pm: Nissan showcases GT-R sports car along with X-Trail Hybrid SUV at the Auto Expo.

5.02 pm: Toyota launches the Innova Crysta at the auto show.

4.40 pm: Toyota is all set to unveil its new-gen Innova at the auto show.

4.15 pm: Force Motors showcases Traveller Super.

3.50 pm: Mahindra Racing unveils new racing concepts at the Auto Expo 2016.

3.00 pm: Mahindra will also unveil its new two-wheeler range. 

2.40 pm: Home-grown maker Mahindra & Mahindra unveils futuristic SUV concept -- XUV Aero.

2.28 pm: American SUV brand Jeep is set to announce its re-entry into the Indian market.

2.10 pm: Honda unveils the much-awaited BR-V compact SUV at the motor show.

2.05 pm: Mercedes-Benz unveils S-Class Cabriolet and the GLC SUV. 

1.40 pm: Renault has also debuted Kwid AMT dubbed as Kwid Easy-R AMT.

1.25 pm: French auto-maker Renault unveils Kwid 1.0litre at the Auto Expo. The company says the bookings of the Kwid in India have crossed 1 lakh within four months of its entry into the market.

1.15 pm: German car-maker Volkswagen showcases its all-new compact sedan Ameo, new Passat GTE plug-in hybrid and Tiguan.

12.43 pm: Tata Motors showcases a range of new offerings -- Bolt Sport, Hexa, Nexon and Kite 5 sedan -- at the Auto Expo. 

12.35 pm: Tata Motors' highly anticipated Kite compact sedan Kite 5 takes the stage at the Auto Expo Delhi.

12.23 pm: Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif unveils Jaguar Land Rover's XE sedan.

12.09 pm: The next big unveiling at the Auto Expo will be Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover's XE sedan and Tata's new Kite sedan.

11.55 am: Piaggio India showcases the Aprilia SR 150, the county's first sport-scooterbike.

11.32 am: TVS Motor Company showcased its Akula concept along with TVS X21, TVS ENTORQ210 at the ongoing motor show.

Hero HX3R concept also joins Hero's pavilion at the Auto Expo 2016.

11.35 am: Hero MotoCorp pulls the wraps off its new range of bike and concepts -- Splendor iSmart 110, Duet E concept scooter, Hero Xtreme 200 S -- at the auto show.

UM Renegade Commando is priced at Rs 1.59 lakh, Renegade Sport is priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and Renegade Classic is pegged at Rs 1.69 lakh.

11.09 am: UM Motorcycles launched cruiser range Renegade in three variants -- Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport S and Renegade Classic.

11.00 am: American two-wheeler-manufacturer UM Motorcycles set foot in the Indian two wheeler market with Renegade range.

10.37 am: Suzuki Motorcycles unveils its new product range for India -- Gixxer rear disc brake, Gixxer SF with FI engine and the all new Access. All the three products will be launched later this year.

10.33 am: DSK Benelli unveils TNT 135, BX250, Tornado 300 and TRK 502 at the auto show.

Honda also showcased Africa Twin and the all-new CZ-02 concept.

Honda Navi is a made-in-India, made for India two wheeler crossover.

10.10 am: Honda showcased 10 new models at the Auto Expo, including its much-awaited Navi. Available in five colours, the new two-wheeler is offered with a price tag of Rs 39,500 (ex-Delhi).

The Auto Expo 2016 is now seeing the unveiling of Isuzu's new Adventure Utility Vehicle- D-Max V-Cross.

Hyundai Tucson SUV makes India debut at the biennial auto show. The SUV will be launched later this year.

Hyundai reveals the upcoming sub-compact SUV Hyundai HND14 concept -- Carlino.

9.26 am: The 13th edition of the biennial auto show -- the Auto Expo 2016 -- is now all set roll the carpet to welcome Hyundai's Tucson SUV.

American auto major General Motors also showcased Chevrolet Beat concept, Chevy Corvette and Beat Activ.

8.53 am: After Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, General Motors Beat Essentia, the new sedan based on the current-gen Beat hatchback takes the stage.

8.10 am: Maruti Suzuki unveils the brand new Vitara Brezza, the compact SUV, at the auto show.

Toshihiro Suzuki, Suzuki Motor's President at Maruti Suzuki's stall to talk about the company's commitment to the Indian market. Maruti will showcase its range of model at the biennial event under the theme "Transformation in motion".

The 13th edition of Auto Expo 2016 is all set to begin with the unveiling of Maruti Suzuki's compact SUV Vitara Brezza.


The 13th edition of the Auto Expo kick-starts in India's capital city, New Delhi, on 3 February and expectations are at an all-time high with nearly 80 new vehicles from both Indian and global car-makers set to be unveiled. 

Slated to be held at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, India's biggest biennial celebration in the automotive world is organised by a consortium of industry chambers, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), and Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). With the organisers expecting a footfall of about 7 lakh, the first two days of Auto Expo 2016 will be open to media and business visitors, before the gates open for motor enthusiasts and the general public from 5-9 February.

Apart from the biennial event, New Delhi will also witness a component show to be held from 4 to 7 February at Pragati Maidan. The component show will see the participation of 1,500 companies, in which 900 companies will be from India and 600 will be international exhibitors from countries such as China, Canada, Germany, Japan and South Korea among others.

While companies like Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson have opted to stay away from the 13th edition of Auto Expo, new exhibitors like Revolta Motors, Force Motors, Jeep, Abarth and Dhasan Moto, BMW Motorrad, DSK Benelli and Polaris will give the event a boost.
