At least 42 passengers reportedly jumped off a Virgin Australia flight in Australia on Tuesday morning after they heard of a bomb threat in the flight.

The passengers on board the domestic flight, scheduled from Sydney to Albury, got off the plane when they heard someone shouting "leave your luggage and get out and run."

Reports state that a note was found in the bathroom of the 68-seater turboprop, Virgin VA1174 flight, which said that there is a bomb on the plane.

Police and emergency services carried out a thorough search of the aircraft but they did not find any explosive device.

New South Wales State Police, however, told Xinhua there was no sign of any explosive on board the plane and said they believed the incident was merely a "prank".

The bomb threat was later declared a hoax.

There are reports that the cabin crew "ripped off" the doors of the aircraft from the inside after the plane landed, and instructed the people to "leave your luggage. Get out and run, run, run!" a passenger told the Australian Associated Press.

No one suffered any injuries after they jumped from the aircraft.

Police officials said that a man has been arrested in association with the bomb threat. They also added that "all of the occupants were secured and safe within five minutes of its landing."
