Consumer electronics major Asus has finally released the much-awaited camera oriented Zenfone Zoom series smartphone in the home market Taiwan.

For the uninitiated, Asus Zenfone Zoom was originally unveiled at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2015, Las Vegas, in January and it was also showcased at ZenFestival 2015, New Delhi, few months ago.

However, the release date, price and key feature details were kept under wraps. Now, it has been made available in Taiwan and also later in other markets as well.

As said before, the main USP of Zenfone Zoom is its state-of-art camera technology. It boasts feature-rich 13MP camera with an OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation), f/2.7 to f/4.8-aperture, 3X optical zoom, 10-element lens that can add 12X digital zoom for finer close-up details. It also features the laser auto-focus technology for super fast focus (less than 0.03 second) and proprietary PixelMaster v2.0 camera application.

Zenfone Zoom reportedly comes in two storage models -- 64GB and 128GB -- having different CPUs. The former houses a 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC (System on Chip), whereas the latter features 2.5GHz Intel Atom Z3590 quad-core processor. The rest of the specifications of both the devices remain same.

They sport 5.5-inch full HD display and run on the Android Lollipop OS backed by LPDDR3 4GB RAM, 5MP front-camera and 3000 mAh battery.

Asus Zenfone Zoom price details:

According to ePrice, the new Asus Zenfone Zoom -- 64GB and 128GB -- will cost TWD 13,990 (around $427/€403/ Rs. 28426) and TWD 15,990 (around $489/€460/ Rs. 32490)respectively.

Will Asus Zenfone Zoom set foot in India?

Yes, we believe Asus will definitely release Zenfone Zoom in India since it is the world's fastest growing market (India overtook US as the second biggest smartphone hub). The Taiwanese company has been very aggressively making strides in India in the last couple of year. Asus already sells more than 10 variants of Zenfone 2 series, including Laser and Selfie in India.

Moreover, Zenfone Zoom listed at the Asus website in Taiwan mentions that the device is compatible to India's 4G bands -- LTE 850 (5), LTE 1800 (3), LTE 2300 (40). So, it is just a matter of when not whether Asus will release the new phone in India.

Stay tuned for more updates.
