Meanwhile, both the UDF and LDF party leaders hope to win the by-election by a huge margin. While Chandy stands by his faith in Sarbarinath's victory in the upcoming poll, leader of the opposition believes that people will show the door to the corrupt ministers of the Chandy government by voting for the LDF candidate.

"Both Antony and (state Congress chief) VM Sudheeran should not forget that the people of Aruvikkara are getting ready to ensure that they show the exit door to the most corrupt government of Chandy when they will elect (CPI-M's) Vijayakumar by a huge margin," he said, according to IANS.

Chandy also hopes that the government's efforts in banning liquor from the state will help in getting the support of female voters in Aruvikkara.

"I have already said, I stand by what I said. The effect of the liquor ban is quite visible among the women electorate in Aruvikara as these days you see very less number of (drunk) people lying on the road," Chandy told the media.

Meanwhile, the exit polls by local channels reveal that LDF will win the by-elections.
