There were rumours doing the rounds that Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" will not release on 9 May, citing financial troubles.

Buzz was that one of the film's producers, Murali Manohar of Mediaone Global Entertainment, had a difference of opinion with the distributors over unsettled dues, reported the The Times of India.

"Adding fuel to fire was the sudden decision of the makers to stop the release of ads announcing the film's release. All this led to speculation on whether the film would release as originally promised," a source told the daily.

But now, the makers have once again confirmed that the film will release on the scheduled date of 9 May. Entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai has confirmed the news. "#Kochadaiiyaan - Dr Murali one of producers confirm release of film in 6 languages including Tamil on May 9," he tweeted. Official paper ads with the release date will reportedly be resumed from Friday (25 April).

The six languages in which "Kochadaiiyaan" will release are Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Punjabi, Marathi and Bhojpuri.

The historic drama flick marks the directorial debut of Rajinikanth's second daughter Soundarya. The film has Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Nassar and Shobana in pivotal roles, while AR Rahman (music), Anthony (editing) and Rajeev Menon (cinematography) belong to the technical crew.

"Kochadaiiyaan" is touted as India's first photorealistic, motion capture 3D film. The flick has generated high expectations among Rajini fans as the actor will be back on the silver screen after four years.

The Rajini starrer will have a solo big release worldwide on 9 May. It is likely to take a grand opening on the first day of its release. However, it remains to be seen if the film's content and CGI work will impress the audience.
