Salman Khan starrer "Jai Ho" had a grand opening, but the film failed to beat the first Friday record of "Dhoom 3' and "Krrish 3."

The political action drama directed by Sohail Khan accumulated ₹17.55 crore nett on day 1.  The expectations from "Jai Ho" was pretty high as it stars Salman and hit theatres after a gap of one year. But being a normal Friday, the opening day income is good.

The business is further anticipated to rise on Saturday and Sunday.

"#JaiHo Fri ₹ 17.55 cr nett. India biz only," trade analyst Taran Adarsh said adding, "#JaiHo reports are very positive, expecting the biz to witness escalation on Sat. Tomorrow, 26 Jan holiday + Sunday should hit big numbers."

The first day figure is the fifth highest ever for a film released on non-holiday Friday. The top spot is held by "Dhoom 3" with ₹36.22 crore, followed by "Krrish 3" with ₹25.5 crore and "Dabangg 2" with ₹21 crore.

"Jai Ho" held well at single screens, which opened with 80 to 90 percent occupancy. But the business from multiplexes was quite low. Even business from circuits like Delhi, Punjab, and Moradabad was average.
