Vijay's "Jilla" and Ajith's "Veeram" is all set for a strong second weekend at the worldwide box office.

"Jilla" and "Veeram", which released on 10 January, have been running successfully in theatres across the globe. Both the films took a fantastic start and are continuing to perform well at the box office.

Their business has been neck-to-neck in Tamil Nadu as both Vijay and Ajith enjoy a massive fan following in the state. "#Jilla & #Veeram r doing roaring business in TN. All theater owners r saying it is a neck to neck race," tweeted entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai.

This is not the first time that Ajith and Vijay films have clashed at the box office. In the past, their films have battled it out with each other on several occasions. The last time their films clashed was in 2007 when "Pokkiri" and "Aalwar" released on the same day.

For the last few years, big stars in Tamil Nadu have been avoiding their films clashing at the box office as they might eat into each other's revenues.

After seven years, Vijay's and Ajith's films have released on the same day. Interestingly, both the films are doing exceptionally well in India as well as overseas markets. "#Pongal2014 has started on a bright note for Tamil film industry. Both releases have made all concerned with film trade happy," Sreedhar tweeted.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, "Jilla" business in Kerala has been really good, thanks to the presence of Malayalam actor Mohanlal. The film, which released in more than 200 screens in the state, created a new record on day 1. The action-packed entertainer collected ₹2.62 crore gross on the first day, which is the highest day 1 amount collected by any film in the state. The film continues to do good business in the state. On the other hand, Ajith's "Veeram" has done decent business in Kerala even though "Jilla" fever is gripping the state.

Both the films are performing equally well in key Indian markets and overseas areas such as US, UK, Australia and Malaysia. To get the overseas collection details, click here.

The Vijay and Ajith starrers are likely to post a grand total at the end of the first week thanks to the tremendous response for their films. As there are no big releases for another week, both "Veeram" and "Jilla" are expected to continue their successful run in their second week as well.
