Motorola officials have reportedly confirmed that its budget Android smartphone Moto G will be released in India around January last week. The company is yet to disclose the price details of the device.
William Moss, director of corporate communication at Motorola Mobility, said "It (Moto G) is going to be price competitive... if you look at what the device offers, the kind of responsiveness and performance it has, Moto G will be competitive with its peers," reported The Times of India.
With the release of a new phone, the company will be making its comeback in the sub-continent after a hiatus of close eight months. It had even closed down the official India website in November last year. Motorola is said to sell Moto G through a distributor partner.
Moto G flaunts a 4.5-inch HD (1270x720p) LCD screen with pixel density of 329 ppi (pixels per inch) and is confirmed to ship with the new Android v4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the box.
Under-the-hood, it boasts of quad-core processor with 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB inbuilt storage, 5.0-megapixel main camera, 1.3-megapixel snapper on the front and a 2,070 mAh battery
In the US, the unlocked Moto G models are priced $179 (around ₹11,300) for 8GB and $199 (around ₹12,250) for 16GB. The new Motorola device is expected to cost a little more in India, taking into account the custom duty taxes as well as foreign exchange rate.
