Latest buzz doing the rounds in Tamil film industry is that Vikram's upcoming Tamil film "I" (aka "Ai") is all set to hit screens for Tamil New Year, which falls on 14 April.

Directed by Shankar, "I" is deemed as a romantic action thriller. The film has Amy Jackson of "Madarasapattinam" fame as the female lead. The other cast members include Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi, Bollywood actor Upen Patel, Santhanam, Ramkumar Ganesan and Satya Krishnan.

The shooting of "I" is progressing at a brisk pace and the film is expected to be wrapped soon. Vikram, who has undergone a lot of physical changes for the film, will be seen in more than one look. The actor will appear in a bald look in some portions of the film. He has also lost oodles of weight to do justice to his character.

Shankar is known to make films with grandeur. "I" is reportedly being made on a budget of ₹145 crore. This is the second film in which the director has teamed up with Vikram. The actor-director duo worked in 2005-release "Anniyan", which turned out to be a blockbuster. The film about multiple personality disorder had Vikram appearing in three different roles. The actor was hugely appreciated for his performance in the film.

"I" is expected to bring out Vikram's acting talents once again. The action thriller flick is produced by Venu Ravichandran under Aascar Films banner.

Film's music is composed by AR Rahman, who has worked in most of Shankar's films. The story for the film is written by Subha and Shankar. Cinematography is handled by P. C. Sreeram, while editing is done by Anthony.
