The advance bookings for the film, which started on Wednesday (20 November), has received good response. Bookings were high in Chennai city, particularly in multiplexes, said entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai. The fantasy thriller is expected to make a good opening on the first day of its release.

The film is carrying huge expectations thanks to director Selvaraghavan, who is known for his unique style of filmmaking, and the trailers that have also generated a lot of buzz.

"Irandam Ulagam" will be Arya's third release of the year. The actor is riding high with two back-to-back successful films - "Raja Rani" and "Arrambam". It remains to be seen if the actor scores a hat-trick with the fantasy thriller.

The film is a love story set in two different worlds, where Arya and Anushka will play two roles each. They have reportedly learnt sword fighting to perform some stunts in the film.

The makers of "Irandam Ulagam" are confident that the film will impress the audience. "It's a visually stunning film. It will be something you'd have never experienced before. Audience will be transported to a different world and this place would be grand. But the local nativity and sensibility will be maintained throughout," Rajeev Kamineni, Executive Director, PVP Cinema told Behindwoods.

The film's music is composed by Harris Jayaraj, while Anirudh of "Vanakkam Chennai" fame has worked on the background score. Editing is done by Kola Bhaskar and cinematography is handled by Ramji. The fantasy thriller, which is reportedly made on a budget of ₹60 crore, will be simultaneously released in Telugu as "Varna" on 22 November.
