The long wait for an official Instagram application for Windows Phone users will soon come to an end in a few weeks from now.

Windows Phone is one of the leading smartphone operating systems after Android and iOS, which has been slowly getting an uplift due to the inclusion of more official applications. The much-awaited app is said to fill a big hole in the Windows OS ecosystem.

CEO Kevin Systrom revealed that the official client will be available for Windows shortly. "Our ultimate goal is to bring Instagram to everyone who wants to use it," said Systrom. "We're looking forward to watching the Windows Phone community use Instagram to capture and share beautiful moments in the coming weeks."

Details for the application are not yet disclosed as the app is still said to be in the development stage.

For now, users who want to share pictures on the web can use 6Tag, the unofficial Instagram client which has full support for filters and video uploads. The app also gets a periodic update. The latest update included a collage creating feature, reports The Verge.

Along with Instagram, Flipboard is also set to arrive for the OS by the end of the year.

From JPEG Image to RAW File Format

Meanwhile, the new Nokia Lumia smartphones will include RAW file format, which is more flexible for editing and post processing the clicked images.

RAW files are currently seen only in DSLR cameras, along with JPEG files.

These file formats are expected to be rolled out to Lumia 1020 which features a 41-megapixel sensor. However, manufacturers would face problems in retaining image details while transferring RAW files, reported Financial Express.
