Television reality show "Bigg Boss" thrives on controversy. It ran into legal issues since its inception in 2007, and even the ongoing season seven, hosted by Bollywod superstar Salman Khan, also got into hassles for its adult content.

Here are the instances of the show being served a legal notice:

1) Bigg Boss 7: Adult Content

The I&B ministry served a legal notice to the producers of "Bigg Boss 7" for airing intimate scenes like kissing and use of language by the contestants. It alleged that the show has violated the programming code under the Cable TV Act.

2) Bigg Boss 7: Salman Khan

Salman posed as a devil holding a trident with bones tied to it in the season seven promotions. However, it did not go down well with activist Hemant Patil, as trident is Lord Shiva's weapon. He filed a complaint against the actor and the production team at a magistrate court, alleging that they have hurt religious sentiments of the Hindus.

3) Bigg Boss 6: National Anthem

A PIL was filed against Colors TV over the use of the National Anthem to promote "Bigg Boss" in cinema theatres. Reacting to PIL, the Delhi High Court directed the central government to take appropriate action against the channel.

4) Bigg Boss 6: Turban

A petition was filed against Salman, contestant Navjot Singh Sidhu and the cast of "Son of Sardar" - Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha, for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community in season six. Activist Gagandeep Singh Bhatia filed a complaint against them in a court for making women wear turbans, which is against Sikhism.

5) Bigg Boss 5: Sunny Leone

The entry of pornstar Sunny Leone in the reality show sparked controversy, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur writing to then I&B minister Ambika Soni to stop the channel from featuring her, claiming that the presence of a pornstar will have negative impact on viewers.

6) Bigg Boss 4: Veena Malik

Pakistan actress Veena Malik got into legal trouble for her intimacy with actor Ashmit Patel in season four. A case was filed against her in a Lahore court by one Mian Muhammad Iqbal for her closeness with the Indian actor, terming it "un-Islamic".
