Motorola to Launch Budget Phone in Emerging Countries Later This Year: Report

In the last few months, several snapshots and leaked specs of Motorola's upcoming Moto X smartphone have hit the internet. Now, a new report has surfaced that the company is also planning to launch a low-cost phone specifically for developing countries.

Tehcnology website Phone Arena citing sources has revealed that the Google-owned Motorola is contemplating to introduce an affordable phone code-named 'DVX' in price-sensitive markets. The source failed to get hold of the specs list of the mystery phone.

With mid-range Moto X and low-cost DVX smartphones launch due this year, it seems Motorola is trying to diversify its market range and product line to meet most budget needs of emerging countries. Motorola's move seems to be in imitation of Samsung which is leading the global market with its wide-array of Galaxy devices at varied prices.

The upcoming Moto X is expected to sport a 4.7-inch 720p HD display backed by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and run on Android OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean with 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt memory.

The device will be the manufactured in Texas, making it the the first ever US smartphone to be designed and get produced domestically. It is expected to make its debut in the first week of August and later hit stores around October.
