The Army Recruitment centre in Shillong stirred controversy on Thursday for luring the youth to join the force y using a hoarding with images of Bollywood actress having army background.
The advertisement for the recruitment drive which came up with the images of Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Preity Zinta, Gul Panag, Nupur Mehta and Celina Jaitley amongst others had the tag line, "If you want to have beautiful and successful daughters, join Indian Army."
According to reports, the officers in the recruitment centre had been pulled up by the Army headquarters on Thursday for failure to discuss about the advertisement and seek permission in displaying the hoarding at the location.
It was also reported that the officials behind the act had not taken consent from any of the actresses before using their images for the purpose.
The incident came to light after images of the hoarding were shared and posted on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Army sources said that the officers responsible for placing the hoarding were warned and were told that repetition of such incidents would invite serious action against them.
The parents of the heroines whose images were used in the hoarding were were part of the Indian Army. Priyanka Chopra's parents, Ashok and Madhu Chopra, were physicians in the Indian Army. Preity Zinta's father Durganand Zinta, who died when the actress was 13, was an Army officer. Anushka Sharma's father, Col. Ajay Kumar Sharma, was also an officer in the force.
