Micromax A116 Canvas HD vs. Intex Aqua Wonder Quad Core: Battle Between Indian Quad-core Smartphones Intensifies

Since the start of the year, the Indian smartphone market has seen an influx of low-cost phablets released by the domestic players, giving stiff challenge to foreign manufacturers.  

A116 Canvas HD which was released a couple of months ago, recorded huge sales on the day of its release as the first batch of Micromax smartphones was sold-out within minutes of its release online. It still continues to be the most popular and sought-after smartphone in the market.

Rival Intex on Monday pulled the wraps off its first quad-core smartphone - Aqua Wonder Quad Core. The smartphone is expected to be priced ₹9,990, making it the lowest priced quad core handset in the market.

With a price tag of less than ₹10,000, will the Intex smartphone become a threat to Micromax's record seller which is currently facing supply-demand deficit in the market due to the staggered production line? It remains to be seen.

According to latest reports, Canvas HD costs ₹14,499, while Aqua Wonder Quad Core is expected to be priced ₹9,990, almost ₹4500 lower than its competitor. This might very well play spoilsport for the Canvas HD since Micromax is facing supply shortage. Adding woes to the consumer, several online retailers have reduced the Canvas HD's price close to ₹16,000 to cash in on the huge demand in the market.
