South Korean electronics giant Samsung on Thursday unveiled the most awaited smartphone of the year, Galaxy S4 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall, on Thursday.

Galaxy S4 comes packed with a gamut of innovative touch-free features such as face recognition software 'Smart Scroll', 'Smart Pause' and voice-command control feature S Voice Drive, all of which aptly personify its marketing tagline - 'Life Companion'.

On the other hand, Canadian rival BlackBerry formerly on a comeback trail released its first major smartphone of 2013, BlackBerry Z10 in January end with the revamped mobile operating system BlackBerry 10.

BlackBerry Z10 received good reviews by critics and consumers for refreshing looks and simplicity of the new OS. The smartphone made huge sales in UK, India and its its home country Canada.

But, will Samsung's master piece Galaxy S4, which is expected to hit Indian stores in the first week of May, curtail the sales of BB Z10?

Here is a brief comparison between Samsung Galaxy S4 and BlackBerry Z10:

Display:

Samsung's Galaxy S4 sports a big 5.0-inch screen and BB Z10 sports much smaller 4.2-inch display. Galaxy S4's Full HD Super AMOLED screen with 441 pixels per inch resolution takes the lead from Z10 which boasts mere 356 ppi pixel density.

Processor:

Samsung's international variant packs the company's in-house built Octa-core Exynos 5 chipset with two quad-core processors - one with 1.6GHz and other with 1.2GHz CPU speeds.

Eventhough Z10 packs a powerful 1.5GHz snapdragon S4 Plus quad-core processor, Galaxy S4's Octa-core processor dwarfs BlackBerry's smartphone in terms of efficiency.

(Galaxy S4's 1.9GHz quad-core processor variant is expected sell in US and select markets only)

Camera:

BlackBerry Z10 sports a standard 8.0-megapixel main camera and a 2.0-megapixel front camera similar to many high-end smartphone. Samsung has gone up by a notch by fitting a 13.0-megapxel main camera and a 2.0-mega front camera.

That's not all; Galaxy S4 comes with smart camera features such as 'Smart Scroll', 'Smart Pause' which decrease the need for finger touch to browse through content.

Users need not even slide their fingers on the screen up and down to view text. Galaxy S4's 2.0-megapixel front camera tracks facial movements to scroll through an email text or browse internet. Also, if a video is being played and the user looks away in other direction, the smartphone automatically pauses the video and will resume playing when the user turns back.

Mobile Operating System:

Samsung's Galaxy S4 runs on the world's most used mobile OS Android and it is expected come with latest version Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box.

BB Z10 runs on the BlackBerry 10 OS, which was released only a couple of months ago in the market. It holds a little over 70,000 plus apps. And this might hold back for certain prospective smartphone buyers who prefer having more apps and a wide spread platform. Android makes a better choice having more than 650,000 apps in its ecosystem.

In terms of RAM, network speed connectivity and other minor specs, both high-end smartphones pack similar features with negligible difference.
