Mumbai police have arrested a celebrity hairstylist for allegedly murdering his wife during a heated argument early Friday morning.

Lisbon Miranda was found sitting beside the bloodied body of his wife Bindya, who he had allegedly stabbed to death in the couple's Andheri residence. Authorities were called in after Lisbon's family members alerted them of loud voices coming from the couple's apartment.

Police tried to break open the apartment's main door, which Lisbon was said to have locked from inside. The 35-year old hairstylist had reportedly threatened to set the house on fire and was said to have reached the gas cylinder knob in the kitchen before authorities had gained on him.

"We have recovered the knife used in the murder. The deceased was first stabbed in the kitchen and then dragged to the bedroom. Lisbon is showing no signs of remorse and is not cooperating with us," senior police inspector Vijay Bhoite said to Mid Day.

The official added that Lisbon will remain in custody till June 2, after which he will face trial at an Andheri court. Lisbon's motive for killing his wife is yet to be determined.

"We are trying to find out the circumstances leading to the incident. We will also interrogate the couple's neighbours and people who attended the gathering to ascertain if something happened between the couple there," an investigating officer said according to the Times of India.

According to the publication, the incident was believed to have taken place hours after the couple returned from a party Thursday night. The two were reportedly involved in fierce altercation, during which Lisbon was said to have forced the rest of his family members out of the apartment and then began attacking his wife.

Bindya was found with multiple stab wounds to her stomach and was immediately rushed to Cooper Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to the Mid Day, the couple had been married for five years and had a three-year old daughter. Lisbon has created hairsyltes for several celebrity clients while Bindya was said to be unemployed.
