‘Mass Effect 3’ Ending DLC Could Be Underway, Kaidan Alenko Voice Actor and BioWare Producer Confirm Production
Fans aren't the only ones gearing up for the "Mass Effect 3" downloadable content set to launch this summer. "Mass Effect" voice actors are returning to the studio and being recorded for the new package of epilogue scenes, as the game's producer Mike Gamble confirmed on Twitter.
"Lots of extended cut VO recording happening...yep yep," he posted on the social networking site on May 6th.
"Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut," will offer a deeper insight into the space-based action RPG trilogy's final installment. The content will contain additional cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes, following the uproar from fans dissatisfied with the game's ending.
"We are all incredibly proud of 'Mass Effect 3' and the work done by Casey Hudson and team," Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare said in the written announcement in early April. "Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With 'Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut' we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arch in the 'Mass Effect' universe."
"Mass Effect" voice artists have also been clueing fans on the recording process via Twitter. Tricia Helfer, who voiced EDI in the game, posted that she will soon be returning to the recording studio.

A user tweeted at Helfer asking, "Have you done any new voice work for EDI," on April 26th, to which she replied "Going to do some next Mon!" If this is correct, this means that the voice-actress will be recording today, May 7th. There has been no confirmation as to whether or not this is for the upcoming DLC, but with Gamble's recent post this is certainly likely.
Raphael Sbarge, responsible for voicing squad member and loyal Normandy Systems Alliance Marine Kaidan Alenko, also hinted that new work is in progress.
"Just when you thought I would never go back, they keep PULLING me back in #MassEffect!! Recording!! Yay! Wha-hoo!" he tweeted on May 4th, along with a photo of a microphone in a recording booth.
There has been no word from other voice actors, but The Examiner reported that Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale will be returning for the Commander Shephard roles, along with the other squadmates. Hale may also be involved in another upcoming project known as "Republique," which is an iOS-based touch screen game. "Republique" is currently in the process of fundraising via Kickstarter, and only four days are left to pledge donations. "Metal Gear Solid's" David Hayter is also on board with Hale to voice the game, with industry veterans behind titles such as "Halo" and "F.E.A.R." working on the project.
Fans on the BioWare social forum are speculating about what the new content could mean for a different ending. One fan warns that if voice actor Keith Szarabajka is recording, it could be for the character of Harbinger, meaning that the ending could be changed.
"If it's Harbinger then...something big's coming," user Auralius Carolus wrote on May 6th.
