Pope Benedict XVI recently paid his first visit to Cuba, meeting with President Raul Castro and communist revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

An aerial view shows Pope Benedict XVI arriving at Revolution Square to celebrate a mass in Havana.
During a mass held in Santiago de Cuba, the 84-year old pontiff appealed to the Cuban people to strive for an "open society."
"I appeal to you to reinvigorate your faith ... that you may strive to build a renewed and open society, a better society, one more worthy of humanity," he said.
