J Dey Murder Case: Police File Supplementary Chargesheet against Vora
The Mumbai police crime branch on Tuesday filed a supplementary chargesheet against journalist Jigna Vora in connection to the J Dey murder case.
Vora was charged under sections of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), the Arms Act and Bombay Police Act in connection to the case.
She was the eleventh accused, who was arrested in connection to the killing of senior Mid Day crime beat journalist J Dey.
Earlier, Vora had confessed that she had spoken against Dey while speaking to gangster Chhota Rajan. The Mumbai Police Crime Branch had seized a mobile phone that belongs to Vora.
According to Mid-Day, the police said that Vora had used Joseph Paulson as a mediator to speak to Rajan.
Vora works with English daily and her arrest in connection to the killing of journalist J Dey came as a shock to the media world.
Known as J Dey more than his full name Jyotirmoy Dey, the assassinated scribe received death threats from the underworld.
Dey, who was 56, received five bullet injuries on June 11. He was rushed to Hiranandani Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The scribe, who used to write on the underworld, was considered a key resource person on the matter. He was the Editor, Investigations, in Mid Day.
Dey had penned books on the underworld. They are "Zero Dial: The Dangerous World of Informers" and "Khallas". He also worked with Indian Express and Hindustan Times.
