One does not need to be a rocket scientist to understand Arsenal are in desperate need of a quality striker, but the club has not been able to bring in a top forward to bolster their prospects. The Gunners have been linked heavily to players such as Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Edinson Cavani, but nothing concrete have come out of it.

With Wenger failing to pen a move so far for any highly rated striker, Arsenal seem to be exploring other options as well, which includes the 19-year-old forward of Santos, Gabriel Barbosa, as a late swoop before the transfer window shuts down at 6pm British standard time. The Telegraph reports that the Brazilian is on Arsenal's radar.

Their interest makes sense for the London club to gather some late interest and sign the Brazilian forward, who could provide an additional option to Arsene Wenger as well.

Though one cannot rule out a big money move in the eleventh hour for Cavani, who has been linked heavily to Arsenal in the last 24 hours (this has been the case throughout the summer transfer). The PSG striker has been Wenger's key target over the summer alongside Karim Benzema.

However, Gabriel Barbosa has been inspiring in his performances for Santos, which has helped him come into the limelight as well. Last season, Barbosa scored eight goals.

Players from Brazil always have that flair and Barbosa is no different as he has even been dubbed as the 'new Neymar'. His exploits in Brazilian football have also attracted interest from other European clubs and why not, as the Brazilian is just 19 years and is yet to hit his prime.

Though Wenger might be looking for quality strikers in the market, Turkish giants Galatasaray could possibly throw in huge money on deadline day to land the highly rated winger--Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain--from Arsenal. Galatasaray seem to be eager to land the Englishmen from Arsenal and are said to have enquired about his potential availability as well.

Both Wenger and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might not want the move to materialise with three years left on the player's present contract, but anything is possible if the Turkish giants throw in some crazy money to land the player. Meanwhile, Galatasaray have also set their eyes on Mathieu Flamini, who could replace Felipe Melo for the Turkish giants as well.
