Six more days and the summer transfer window will close its doors. Clubs across Europe are busy preparing their last-minute bids. According to reports from The Daily Mail, the Gunners are preparing a late move for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Edinson Cavani.

Having lost out on Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, Arsenal have shifted their attention towards the Uruguayan, Cavani, who reportedly was their Plan B if they miss out on Benzema.

Head coach Arsene Wenger had rubbished rumours of signing Benzema from Arsenal earlier last week. But after the last night's stalemate against Liverpool, Wenger might as well bring in a new striking option apart from Olivier Giroud. Keeping in mind Danny Welbeck is yet to recover from his injury and Theo Walcott has not been in a great shape so far this season, the Gunners might consider a let swoop for Cavani from the French giants just like they did a couple of years ago when they roped in Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid at the 11th hour.

Cavani is likely to cost around £35 million, which is at least £10 million cheaper than what Benzema would have cost them.

Benzema posted a photo on Twitter from his official handle, where he hit out at the "clowns" and indicated that he is not leaving Santiago Bernabeu this season. The caption of the photo says: "For all those clowns who want to make believe things at my fans. Here this is my home!"

It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal readies themselves for a last-minute swoop for this talented Uruguayan striker. If this move happens, then it will definitely boost Gunners's attacking front, with Ozil and Alexis Sanchez on the either of the wings.

Cavani has scored 54 goals from 79 games for the French side since he joined PSG from Napoli for a price tag of £55million in 2013. Can Arsenal pull off this stellar signing in the short span of six days?
