Apple's Chinese OEM partner Foxconn has reportedly been given approval to begin shipments of the upcoming metal-based premium iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone 5C, early next month.

The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the Apple is likely to unveil the new iPhone models in September and may even go on sale the very same month.

If we look back at the pattern of previous iPhone launches, the smartphones usually hit major market stores within two weeks of their unveiling. A point in case being that Apple had launched iPhone 5 on 12 September last year and it went on sale in American retail stores nearly ten days later.

As per a recent report, Apple is rumoured to host a media event on 10 September, 2013.

The upcoming premium smartphone model, iPhone 5S, is said to feature the same 4.0-inch display and design frame with a metallic touch as seen on its predecessor, but major changes are expected to seen inside the device. It is rumoured to run on the new iOS v7.0 OS powered by the A7 quad-core processor with 1GB LPDDR3 RAM, 8.0-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash.

Apart from black and white hued iPhone 5S models, Apple is rumoured to unveil the third colour variant - 'Champagne Gold'. The company is also expected to pull the wraps off the iPhone 5C, a low-cost variant which is specifically intended to help diversify its market reach in developing countries.

iPhone 5C is said to sport a plastic body (probably polycarbonate material) with a 3.5-inch screen and run on iOS 7, the old Apple A5 chipset and 5.0-megapixel camera on the rear side. Recent reports suggest that Apple would market the iPhone 5C with multiple colour options of black, white, red, blue, green and yellow.
