Before Apple could officially announce the availability of iPhone 6 series in India, some premium resellers have opened pre-orders windows for the new devices.
One of the authorised Apple India affiliate, Imagine Store has begun taking orders from consumers with ₹10,000 down-payment in Bangalore, reported the technology blog, BGR India.
However, the technology blog has also cautioned that this pre-order is unofficial as the Image Store executives have no credible information on when the devices will go on sale, other than the speculated release date of 17 October, which Apple India had posted on its home page, a day after the 9 September official unveiling day in the USA.
But, the company on the very next day (11 September) pulled down the release date details from its official home page, leaving many wondering whether there will be a delay in launching the Apple's new smartphones in India.
If sources of The Indian Express have to be believed, the new iPhone 6 and its Plus variant are not likely to hit the store shelves until Mid-November.
Taking advantage over the confusion on the actual iPhone 6 India release date, illegal Apple devices have made their way to India selling for a whopping ₹1,00,000 (around $1,650) a piece in grey markets in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.
Some retailers are also using e-commerce sites like e-Bay India to sell iPhone 6 devices between ₹75,000 (around $1,230) and ₹1,15,000 (around $1,900).
The neighbouring country, mainland China is no different, iPhone 6 devices are selling for ridiculous prices up to $3600 (₹219,000) a piece at grey markets. [For more information, read IBTimes India report]
As of now, there is no official word from the American giant when the new devices will finally set foot in India.
