For the last few weeks, rumours mills have been abuzz with news that Apple would launch a new generation of iPads by mid-October. Amid all the speculations, a snapshot of the second generation gold Apple iPad mini flaunting a finger print sensor has surfaced online for the first time.

A Chinese media house, ZOL has released a pair of purported pictures of the Gold hued Apple iPad Mini. The front side of iPad Mini is seen flaunting a circular ring at the home button, hinting that Apple might use its iPhone 5S marquee feature 'Touch ID' finger print scanner in the upcoming mini tablet as well as the fifth generation iPad. In related news, popular Apple leakers Sonny Dickson too released a new set of Space Grey Apple iPad Mini pictures, similar to the one that was seen last week posted by the French website, Nowhereelse.  Apart from Gold and Space Gray, the upcoming tablet is also said to come in Silver shade.

The Apple iPad Mini 2 reportedly features retina display and packs the new 64-bit architecture A7 processor with M7 motion co-processors and 1GB RAM, whereas iPad 5 would have 2GB RAM, a notch up in terms of physical memory compared to its predecessor.

According to recent reports, the Apple event which is speculated take place on 15 October might see only the launch of iPad 5, but not the second generation iPad Mini.  Earlier rumours pointed that the both the iPad models would get launched next month.

Market research firm, IHS Suppli has claimed the Apple is having trouble with the iPad Mini production volume and is said to have postponed the launch of the retina-display based smaller tablet to early 2014.
