Samsung To Make Peace With Microsoft For A Windows Phone 8.1-Powered Smartphone: ReportReuters

Over the last few months, Samsung managed to complete the  task of rolling out Android v4.4.2 KitKat to almost all major flagship devices. Now the company is prepping to release new OS v4.4.3 update to a couple of smartphones soon.

Samsung community blog, SamMobile has gotten hold of the South Korean company's internal document containing the status report of software testing carried on Samsung smartphones.

According to the leaked archive, Samsung's Galaxy S5 models SM-G900H & SM-G900F) and Galaxy S4 LTE (GT-I9506) are being tested with new software build version KTU70, believed to be the un-released Android v4.4.3 firmware. The report does not specify any time-line when the OS update might get released to these devices, but if SamMobile is to be believed, the firmware might not be made available soon as it is being integrated with Samsung's custom interface. Hence, the company might probably take a month or more to finally roll out the software.

The upcoming v4.4.3 KitKat, said to be a stability update is expected to fix key issues like frequent data connection dropout fix, Mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes, Power manager display wakelock fix, Multiples Bluetooth fixes, Fix for random reboot , App shortcuts will return with security fix with the new update (shortcuts disappeared from launcher after v4.4.2 update), USB debugging security fix, Wi-Fi auto-connect fix, Minor camera fixes, MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes, Stuck in activation screen fix and many more.

The internal document has also revealed that the Samsung's three mid-range devices- Galaxy Grand 2 (SM-G7102), Mega 5.8 (GT-I9152) and Mega 6.3 (GT-19200) are under final phase of the v4.4.2 KitKat (build version: KOT49H) testing and is said to be rolled out in June, whereas the Galaxy Note 3 Neo (SM-N750) and Galaxy S4 Mini LTE (GT-I9195) are expected to receive OS update in May and June respectively.

Though there is no proof to validate SamMobile's report, the Samsung community blog has pretty good track record of revealing South Korean company's internal working related to unreleased devices and the software roll-out schedules. Moreover, the report is in line with the official press release of Samsung USA. (Company never revealed any specific time-line for the devices)

As of now, Samsung has released v4.4.2 KitKat to Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Note 2 (both International and LTE models), Galaxy S3 Mini (LTE), Galaxy S4 Active (USA), tablet Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and other expected devices slated to taste the new chocolate-wafer flavored OS include Galaxy S4 Mini, S4 Zoom, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy Light, and tablets such as Galaxy Note 8.0, Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 3.
