Android Nougat OS update finally hits Motorola Moto G4 Plus officially in India: Check your smartphones now

The much-awaited Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS update, that was long due for Motorola's Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, finally seems to be seeding to users of the latter phone. This firmware build appears to be the public version of Android Nougat.

Many owners of the Moto G4 Plus have confirmed that they have received Android Nougat via over-the-air (OTA) mechanism. These inputs add substance to a recent report that hinted at the public rollout of Android Nougat having begun to Moto G4 Plus handsets in India.

However, there are some conflicting inputs as far as the build number of Android Nougat (for Moto G4 Plus) is concerned. Some Moto G4 Plus users claim that the Android Nougat build they saw on their handsets, after installing the new firmware, bears version number NPJ25-93.11. A few other users have reported receiving new firmware with slightly changed build numbers.

You can check for Android Nougat OS update on your Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, and check the build number of the update. Also, the latest rollout seems to be a phased one, hence, do not fret if you do not receive the new OS update/firmware notifications on your devices.

If you do not see new OTA notifications about Android Nougat firmware, you can initiate a manual search by navigating to Settings > About Phone System Updates.

It is not known currently as to when the other mid-range Motorola handset viz. Moto G4 would be seeding Android Nougat OS update officially. If you decide to install Nougat custom ROMs, Motorola would void the warranty of your smartphones and your device also automatically gets disqualified from receiving important updates in the future. As of now, when we checked out a Moto G4 handsets, there was no sign of Android Nougat firmware.
