Almost all the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will release their flagships in 2018 and some of the most-anticipated next-generation Android devices include the Samsung Galaxy S9, Nokia 9, OnePlus 6, HTC U12, Xiaomi Mi 7 and Galaxy Note 9. Interestingly, these handsets may share several features, at least if one is to go by the past experience.

Most Android premium devices shared same chipset from Qualcomm in the past, and it may not change this year too, which means the upcoming Android flagships may share Qualcomm's latest system-on-chip (SoC), the Snapdragon 845 that was released recently.

Here are features that 2018 Android flagship devices may share:

Better battery life: Qualcomm has said that its latest Snapdragon 845 processor will enhance battery life of handsets as it is 30 percent more power efficient than its predecessor. The chipset is engineered for all-day battery life and includes Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology that can charge up to 50 percent in just 15 minutes.

Secure Processing Unit: We store lots of information, including personal ones, in our mobile phones, but sadly they aren't immune to hacking. The good news is the Snapdragon 845 comes with a Secure Processing Unit (SPU) that is meant to protect personal information like biometric data. Details like fingerprints and face scans will be stored in SPU and not in the phone's storage, which means the upcoming Android flagships can't be broken into that easily.

Sharper image and video: The Snapdragon 845 is equipped with Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP (image signal processor) which will enhance photography experience. The upcoming handsets with Qualcomm's latest chipset will be able to capture up to 16MP at 60 images per second and let users record 4K-resolution video in HDR at up to 60 fps.

Machine learning enhancement: The Hexagon 685 DSP supports sophisticated, on-device AI processing, delivering richer camera, voice, XR and gaming experiences, according to Qualcomm. It is said to be three times faster than the one in its predecessor.
