It looks like an action-packed December for Honor. Not only is the Huawei sub-brand going aggressive with its recent launches — the Honor 7X and the Honor V10 — but it is also keeping its old customers happy by treating them with the latest software updates.

After announcing the Android Oreo update for the Honor 9, Honor V9,  and Huawei Mate 9 series, the Chinese smartphone-maker has confirmed the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Honor 8 and Honor's former 2017 flagship Honor 8 Pro.

The confirmation comes straight from Honor CEO George Zhao, who recently said in an interview with a Serbian website that Honor is currently beta-testing Android Oreo for the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro, and that users can look forward to an OTA (over-the-air) update hitting their phones in the coming days. The Android 8.0 Oreo update will be available as EMUI 8.0.

He also confirmed that the Honor 8 and Honor 8 Pro will not be the last smartphones to get the latest version of Android. Zhao said that "some other Honor smartphones" will also get the Android Oreo update, but he did not mention their names nor did he reveal a specific timeline for the update. However, in all likelihood, owners of the Honor 9i and Honor 7X can anticipate the update.

Honor launched the Honor 7X for India at its global event in London on December 5, and the handset went on its first-ever "flash sale" on Amazon.in on December 7.

The handset's compelling features combined with the aggressive pricing helped its stocks vanish in no time. Amazon is holding the second flash sale on December 14, and registrations for the same are ongoing.

Apparently, Honor did not launch the Honor 7X with Android Oreo out-of-the-box as the OS was still not widely recieved, which is why Honor decided to release it with Android 7.1 Nougat instead.

Meanwhile, Honor also launched the flagship Honor V10, alongside the Honor 7X at the London event, and the handset with advanced AI camera capability is all set to be launched in India on January 8.
