Bollywood young guns Ranbir Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor are reportedly being considered to play Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's roles in the sequel to 90's comedy "Andaz Apna Apna" (AAA).

Director Rajkumar Santoshi was initially interested in signing original actors Salman and Aamir to reprise their roles in the hit film.

However, Santoshi's idea now seems quite a feat given the herculean task of getting the two stalwarts together given their busy schedules and date issues. Amid this confusion, a second choice has popped up for the leads in the face of the gen-next stars - Ranbir and Shahid.

Hinting at the young duo as the possible choice for "AAA 2", a production unit revealed to Mumbai Mirror, "Although Rajji (Santoshi) ideally wants to do the film with Aamir and Salman, he is keeping his options open. Since it has almost become an impossible task to get combination dates from the two, Rajji might go ahead with Ranbir and Shahid - who are both young and commercially viable."

Even though the director has confirmed no such decision has been made, he hasn't denied the possibility either.

"It's very early for me to take the call on the actors. I am still in the process of putting together the script, so wouldn't like to comment on the casting of Andaz Apna Apna 2," said Santoshi.

Presently, Shahid and Santoshi are gearing up for their upcoming comedy entertainer "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" which also stars Ileana D'Cruz.

The director had previously worked with Ranbir Kaooor in "Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaaani" which was a runway crowd-puller.

And hence it would come as no surprise if Santoshi would want to rework with Ranbir and Shahid for the sequel of the classic laughter riot.

"Andaz Apna Apna" released in 1994 also starred Raveena Tandon and Karishma Kapoor.
