Bollywood's greatest and most influential star Amitabh Bachchan has now over three million followers on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The 69-year-old megastar on Friday reached another milestone as he crossed the three million followers mark on the social networking service.
"3 MILLION FOLLOWERS!!! Holy Mother of Jesus and the Almighty! This is quite unbelievable! Thank you my TwFmXt (Twitter extended family)," Amitabh tweeted.
Ever since he joined the Twitter sphere in 2010, the senior Bachchan remained faithful to posting tweets which had invariably led to a drastic surge in his fan base in a short span of time. Always passionate with his tweets, Amitabh continues to attract users with his intelligent and interesting posts. Besides Twitter, the actor also remains connected to his millions of fans worldwide on a daily basis through his blog.
With 3 million followers, Bachchan is possibly the most popular Bollywood star on the site. Other actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra, who are also active on Twitter, have a follower base of around just half a million.
Actress Priyanka Chopra has 2,598, 973 followers, while Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan have 2,543,885 and 2,435,749 followers respectively. Salman Khan has a relatively lower number of followers at 2,369,131 on Twitter.
Besides tweeting his excitement about the new milestone, Amitabh is also posting tweets about his eight-month-old granddaughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
"The smile of recognition the moment your grandchild sees you .. is bliss beyond bliss !!" he tweeted.
"Ever realized playing with the 'little one' for just a few minutes could be equivalent to an entire two hour workout in the gym! Child is the father of man."
The actor, who became famous in the 1970s as the angry young man, has worked in more than 180 films in his career that spanned over four decades.
