Actor Amitabh Bachchan is very much alive, thus putting to rest spurious reports that claimed the Bollywood megastar was in killed in an accident on Tuesday.

A BlogSpot blog called 24musicvdo.blogspot.in reported on June 26 that "Amitabh Bachan died in a car crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell."

"He was declared dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident," the report continued.

News of Bachchan's death caused panic amongst fans of the 69-year old star. Twitter, Blackberry Messenger (BBM) and other networking sites were completely abuzz with the reports before social media users realized that the news was fake.

The blog also carried a photo of a car turned over on a road and said, "Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Amitabh Bachan lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly."

The blog further gave details about the Toxicology tests as well as Bachchan's fothcoming funeral.

"Memorial services for Amitabh Bachan have not yet been announced. The service is expected to be a closed casket funeral due to the severe head trauma. Additional details and information will be forthcoming as they become available," the blog reported.

The website had not given any details about 'Amitabh Bachan' such as where he lived, his age, whether he is a Bollywood star or some other person who almost shares almost the same name as the actual actor.

At the end of the report, it was said, "Although this news is not true, other reliable media confirm that Amitabh Bachchan is not dead."

The actor is the latest celebrity to be a victim of social media death hoaxes after Lata Mangeshkar and Rajesh Khanna.

According to reports, this same blog had reported similar death hoaxes concerning several international celebrities.  Justin Bieber, David Beckham and David Guetta, were amongst those who were reported dead with exactly the same statements.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan is all well and has been tweeting continuously on Twitter. The actor has yet not commented anything about the blog.
