American Idol 2014 will see first live elimination of the season on Thursday, with only 13 of the remaining 20 contestants - who performed in the Rush Week - moving on to the next round of competition.
The first elimination episode of season 13 will be telecast live at 8:00pm EST on Fox (6:30am IST, Friday). Host Ryan Seacrest will announce the names of the contestants who have made it to top 13.
On Wednesday, five hopefuls - Casey Thrasher, Maurice Townsend, Briston Maroney, Ethan Harris, and Jordan Brisbane - were sent home without getting the chance to perform live.
According to a new rule, the judging panel - consisting of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. - chooses only 10 each from girls and men's groups (20 in total), based on their performances at Randy Jackson's boot camp and at the rehearsals, to perform live in the Rush Week episodes.
Earlier this week, five contestants - Jillian Jensen, Andrina Brogden, Brandy Neelly, Kenzie Hall and Austin Wolfe - who made it to top 15 (girls) did not get the chance to perform live.
