The makers of "Aligarh", starring Rajkummar Rao and Manoj Bajpayee, recently released the first trailer of the movie. The film has shed light on a serious issue and the flick will see Bajpayee as a gay professor and Rao as a journalist.
"Aligarh" is a true story based on Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras -- a Marathi professor at the Aligarh Muslim University. Bajpayee will portray Siras, who lost his job due to his sexual orientation. A sting operation exposed the professor, who was caught embracing a rickshaw-puller. Siras died under mysterious circumstances.
Rao will be seen fighting against the injustice done to Bajpayee, who faces severe criticism for being a homosexual. After "Citylights", "Shahid" and "NH10", the makers are back with another powerful story with some phenomenal actors of the film industry. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the film will hit the screens on 26 February.
National Award winner Rao has given some brilliant performances in the past and for "Aligarh", he went to the extent of learning Malayalam. Bajpayee, on the other hand, is back on the big screen after his blockbuster "Gangs of Wasseypur".
