UPDATE 2:25 pm IST: "It was a glass jar, but with no explosive material. The bomb squad found nothing suspicious," the police chief said. 

UPDATE 2:01 pm IST: The Bengaluru police have said that no bomb or explosive was found from the site, Bengaluru Police Commissioner NS Megharikh said, according to ANI.

A suspicious object spotted at Bengaluru's Cauvery Junction prompted a high alert in the city on Friday. 

According to reports, an abandoned box with electric wires was found near the Cauvery theatre. 

A bomb disposal squad has been called in, ANI news agency reported. 

In November 2015, the Bengaluru police were on high alert following a threat of a possible al Qaeda attack in the IT city. 

In December 2014, a blast at the popular Church Street area had killed one woman.
