While last month's new releases were a rock revival of sorts, this month we will get to listen to an abundance of country, pop, ambient and electronic music. Among the major artistes making a comeback this month are The Monkees and Goo Goo Dolls.

"Will" by Julianna Barwick

American ambient/new age musician Julianna Barwick's experimental fifth studio album, "Will," is going to be dreamy, mystical and filled with lush melodies. From heavy synth layers to analogue synth arpeggios to piano-based melodies, the album will have it all. And all of this was evident from "Nebula," the lead single from the record that Barwick released earlier this year.

Release date: May 6

Genre: Ambient

"Boxes" by Goo Goo Dolls

"Boxes" will see Goo Goo Dolls try out a new pop rock-based sound that holds their original post-grunge influences as a core. The band has already released three singles from the record, namely "The Pin," "So Alive" and "Over and Over."

Release date: May 6

Genre: Pop rock/post-grunge

"Ripcord" by Keith Urban

Keith Urban is known for his county singing. But "Ripcord" will see him experimenting with electronic music while he sticks to his country roots as well. The record will also see him collaborate with Carrie Underwood, Pitbull and Nile Rodgers.

Release date: May 6

Genre: Country/pop

"Cloud Nine" by Kygo

Norwegian electronic artiste Kygo has been active in the music circuit for more than half a decade now. But it is only this year that he is releasing his debut album. The album will feature Kygo collaborating with the likes of Parson James, John Legend, Matt Corby, Kodaline and Tom Odell.

Release Date: May 13

Genre: Deep house/downtempo/electronica

"Under The Sun" by Mark Pritchard

Australian ambient house musician Mark Pritchard is known to be a serial collaborator. His upcoming album "Under The Sun" will see him collaborated with Thom Yorke, Bibio, Linda Perhacs and Beans.

Release date: May 13

Genre: Ambient/electronica

"Skip A Sinking Stone" by Mutual Benefit

One of the best aspects of a Mutual Benefit album is its emotional quotient. The folk-ish "Lost Dreamers," the latest single from "Skip A Sinking Stone" gives out a nostalgic vibe that echoes of Celtic music. This record might just become the most unpredictable LP of the month.

Release date: May 20

Genre: Indie folk/baroque pop

"If I'm Honest" by Blake Shelton

Country singer Blake Shelton's tenth studio album will see him collaborate with Gwen Stefani and The Oak Ridge Boys. The record will also feature "Friends," a song from the soundtrack of the upcoming "The Angry Birds Movie."

Release date: May 20

"Dangerous Woman" by Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande will shed her good girl image and go edgier and more experimental with this album. The record will feature collaborations from Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Macy Gray and Future.

Release date: May 20

Genre: Pop/RnB

"Good Times!" by The Monkees

The Monkees are making a comeback this year with their 12th studio album. It will be their first album in a decade and also the first one since the death of one of their founding members Davy Jones.

Release date: May 27
